Vegan and macros 101

Uncategorized Feb 05, 2021

Question: I have heard macros is hard to do with a vegan lifestyle. Is this the case? I signed up for macros 101 because I saw somewhere on ur stuff that it can be done. I signed up but now looking at the cookbook and some of the info it seems to include a lot of animal protein etc. I am just a little worried now.

Answer: Macros is a tool that can be used in any lifestyle. There is a bonus inside Module 1 that is a Vegan/Vegetarian Guide. I highly suggest downloading that and reviewing it before setting your macros.

Macros 101 Planner

Uncategorized Feb 05, 2021

Question: Hello! I am so excited I'm already into macros 101. I've started working a bit through these prep modules. I am at the day where I'd take pictures and do some reflection and I feel at a stand still. I am wondering if all the available to download files within this portal will be in the $35 planner? I don't want to print and have a million lose papers if I don't need to. I ordered on Monday 2/1. I'm hopeful it's here by next Monday and I can really get cruising through these modules and have everything together in a neat and tidy space.

Answer: So glad you are diving and doing the work! The Planner is separate from the worksheets you download in the modules. There will be a place in the Planner to track your data (weight, measurements, etc) but the worksheets are not in the planner. We've had many clients who have printed the worksheets and created their own Macros 101 Worksheet binder. That is a great way to keep everything together and organized.

Calorie calculator

Uncategorized Feb 01, 2021

Question: Hi!! I just signed up for macros 101. I am working on my macro numbers. Would you mind just checking it for me? I'm think I did it right but just want to make sure. Weight 136.4, activity level 8, average training hours 2.5 hours (30 min, 5days a week). I calculated 1093.7. Then 20% cut. 1093.7 X 8.5 = 929.645. So does that mean I eat 929 calories?
Thank you in-advance for your help

Answer: We love that you are diving in and getting started! We first recommend that you track your normal intake for 1 week prior to setting your numbers. And don't worry - as soon as we get started the coaches can help you look over your numbers. Until then, start tracking your normal intake and begin watching the modules starting with Module 0!

calculating body fat %

Uncategorized Feb 01, 2021

Question: In the week-to-week measurements pdf form it asks for my body fat %, how should we determine that data point?

Answer: First off, having your body fat % is not a requirement. However, if you would like to track your BF% there are several ways to track that - some scales have the option, you can get a body scan or you can purchase fat calipers online. Please note, none of these options are going to be 100% accurate. If you choose to track your BF% we recommend looking at the overall trend and not get so hung up on the individual numbers.

Reverse workouts

Uncategorized Jan 27, 2021

Question: Hi! I joined macros in September, and I’m getting ready to reverse starting next week. I mainly had a question regarding workouts. After reviewing BYOW program, I see info for cut, maintenance, and bulk, but no reverse. I am currently lifting 3 days a week, and LISS 2 days a week. do I cut out all my cardio at once? Also, after listening to the reverse coaching call in macros, I am questioning if I did everything I could in my cut. I wasn’t perfect at hitting my macros, and didn’t see huge progress, but I am one of those that have been dieting for 20 years. Maybe I’m just second guessing myself? Appreciate your input and advice. Thanks.

Answer: If you have been dieting for 20 years then a reverse diet is absolutely the next step you would want to take. In regards to cardio, we recommend alternating between increasing calories and reducing cardio. So, one week you can increase calories. The following week you would reduce cardio by 1 hour total for...

Strength Training, Starving, weight gain

Uncategorized Jan 27, 2021

Question: I began the Build Your Workouts three weeks ago. Since then I have been SO hungry. My calories are set at 1600 with 125g protein. I weigh 135lbs. I’ve ended up having to up my calories to 1800 to compensate. And I’ve gained two pounds when my goal is a cut. Help! Should I not do as much strength training and take my calories back down? Just focus on cardio? I’m confused as to what to do. Thanks for your help!

Answer: The most important thing is to follow the feedback from your body. Collect the data and make adjustments to the input you are putting in the "machine" (ie your body) in order to get the result you want. If you have been in a caloric deficit for an extended amount of time this could be a sign from your body that a reverse diet is needed soon than later.

Hormones and weight loss

Uncategorized Jan 27, 2021

Question: I’ve been working on increasing my testosterone levels since I discovered I was in a really low range about a year ago. I’m using a cream as prescribed by my doctor but I seem to be stuck in the same spot with my weight. My recent blood work showed my body was absorbing the cream but not using it. (Not 100% sure how that all works). My levels are still a little low. I feel like I’m spinning my wheels with diet and exercise. Do I need to just really get focused on nutrition/exercise or will the low testosterone keep me spinning my wheels? Is there something different I should be doing?
I’ve been wondering if I need to get a second opinion on my blood work and/or consider a different supplement. I’ve expressed concern to my doctor about losing weight and was prescribed weight loss pills. I’m not a huge fan of pills. I prefer to go a more healthy route. I wasn’t super happy to be told to just take a pill to help with weight. I’m...

Birth Control

Uncategorized Jan 27, 2021

Question: Does hormonal birth control impact weight loss? We hear a lot about how body weight and data points are impacted by the monthly cycle but I don't have one! I've been on the same BC since I was 19 and now in my 30s haven't had a period or withdrawal bleeding in 7 years. How does this impact my weight loss journey? Thanks BAB Team!

Answer: Yes, hormonal birth control can affect weightloss. Each body is different so it will potentially affect individuals differently. However, if your hormones are not balanced it can increase the cortisol levels in your body which can make losing fat more difficult.

Data help

Uncategorized Jan 27, 2021

Question: I have collected a lot of data and would love for someone to review. I feel like I’m spinning my wheels. Not seeing a big difference of scale or measurements. Not sure if I should reverse or continue to cut and aim to be more consistent hitting my macros. I have realized a couple of things by gathering the data and one is that when I increase fat I don’t feel as good and don’t like the way my body responds. If someone could let me know where I could send the photos of my data I would appreciate it. I would rather not post on Facebook. It’s a good bit of information.

Answer: It is great that you are learning things about your body while collecting all your data! In regards to getting help analyzing the data, all of the coaching is done through the Facebook Group or on the Live Coaching Calls.
