Reversing

Uncategorized Oct 06, 2020

Question: Hi, my starting calories was 867 and after asking if I should start with that or raise it 100, I was told it didn’t make a difference so I split the difference and went with 900 and upped my protein since it’s always been low. I’m really having a hard time as I’ve gained inches this week and clothes are much tighter. So my question is, do I go up 100 calories this week or do I wait to see if it levels off? My goal is to not gain weight. 900 is still so low so I’m having a hard time understanding that that could cause me to gain inches. So if I wait and it doesn’t level off what do I do then? Stay at 900 or go back down? Have you seen someone start a reverse this low?

Answer: These are great questions and ones that require some back and forth coaching. You say your goal is to not gain weight - are you most concerned with the number on the scale or do you mean you do not want to gain fat? Weight gain and fat gain are different. Have you...

Pregnancy Macros!

Uncategorized Oct 06, 2020

Question: Hello! So I found out I was pregnant the same day I joined M101 and wondered if I just simply reverse up to maintenance so I’m not cutting while pregnant? Or wait until later trimesters where a little more fuel is needed? Thank you!!

Answer: We recommend reversing back to maintenance during pregnancy and then working with your doctor to monitor the weight gain. You can still track macros while pregnant but we do not recommend a caloric deficit during that time.

Pregnancy and Gaining Muscle

Uncategorized Oct 06, 2020

Question: Hi, I am currently pregnant, in my first trimester actually, so I wondered if I could build muscle during pregnancy? Obviously, I need to get clearance through my doctor, but assuming I did, can I follow a more hypertrophy approach? I want to take advantage of my anabolic state as much as possible. Thanks!

Answer: As long as your doctor gives you the ok then you should be fine to move forward and do that. However, ask your doctor if there are specific movements/lifts/exercises they want you to avoid during pregnancy.

Diagnosed Binge Eater

Uncategorized Oct 06, 2020

Question: Hi Coaches, I am a diagnosed night binge eater. This program gave me hope that I could take new action to assist with ending this life long struggle. On Friday, I listened to Amber state that she is not trained to assist with this. Honestly I am not sure why I thought the program would help and I’m not sure if I should continue with macros101 or seek professional help. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Answer: Thank you for asking! We always will recommend that you seek professional help for any type of medical concerns. There is still a lot you can gain from the program but that is a decision you will have to make.

Feeling lost

Uncategorized Oct 06, 2020

Question: Hi. I have no clue what I am doing! I feel lost. My doctor wants to put me on Phentermine because I gained so much weight from not eating enough. I an 52 years old and almost feel like I will never lose weight. I exercise and am active every day, I eat in moderation counting all macros and have for 10 weeks now with no changes. Is it possible to lose weight at my age? I saw a hormone specialist who told me she thinks I am just perimenopausal since I have no menopause symptoms, yet. My BF used to be 15% and I am now 36%! So ashamed!

Answer: Yes, losing weight at your age is absolutely possible! From the little information you provided above, your body may have experienced metabolic adaptation and the next step would be a Reverse Diet. I recommend you listen to the modules on reverse dieting in module 4 and also the BAB Radio podcast episodes 9, 10 and 42 which are all on reverse dieting. If you have questions after doing those things I really encourage you to post in the...

Two part

Uncategorized Oct 06, 2020

Question: What's your take on alternate day fasting? I can't seem to string even a few days together of eating on plan. I also was never overweight in my life and I'm on anxiety medication that makes it tougher to lose weight. I feel so trapped in my body and desperate to get this weight off. Like how can I be so desperate and unable to follow a plan at the same time

Answer: This is a great question and one that requires more coaching as there isn't a blanket statement answer. The first question is, what is your goal for the alternate day fasting? Fasting will not help you lose weight faster and in some cases is not a sustainable way to lose weight because fasting for the rest of your life is not something the majority of people want to do. The second question, what is preventing you from being consistent longer than a few days? Are you viewing this as another diet with rules and restrictions? How can you fit macros into YOUR lifestyle instead of trying to fit your lifestyle into...
