Nutrition

Uncategorized Apr 20, 2020

Question: I am wondering about micronutrients, and eating for nutrition, I know that this is what is best for my body to function optimally, and food I can eat and stay in macros isn't necessarily giving me good nutrition.

Answer: What specifically is the question regarding micro-nutrients? Remember, this is YOUR journey. YOU get to choose what food you eat. What is stopping you from filling your macros with food that is nutritional?

Other macro tracking apps besides MFP

Uncategorized Apr 19, 2020

Question: I’ve looked hard to see if this has been asked already, cause I’m shocked it hasn’t been - but is it okay to use “other” tracking Apps like Macros + that I had previously purchased when following this Macros 101 course, just being that MFP is highly suggested?! Just want to know if I will “miss out” on anything by not using it.

Answer: You absolutely can use whatever app you're comfortable with! I do believe MFP has the largest food database because it's been around for a long time. You can try the free version of it to see which app you prefer. You also do not need to purchase the premium to be successful, unless the premium version appeals to you and you don't mind spending the money.

Workout Calories

Uncategorized Apr 19, 2020

Question: If I am eating 1500 calories per day and burn 300 calories while working out do I eat 300 calories to make up for it or stick to the 1500?

Answer: When setting your macros, you include your activity level. Therefore, your workout calories are already built in to your macros. If you have a particularly intense workout and you're feeling extra hungry, there is nothing wrong with adding in some calories if needed.

Maintenance Macros

Uncategorized Apr 17, 2020

Question: When going to maintenance, could you tell me ratios for macros? Could protein be .8/1? Or what should fat be? I hope that makes sense! Basically, when cutting my protein was high and around 135 grams, but now I'm wandering if it can go lower and back down to a 1 to 1 ratio (or even lower such as .8 to 1) and if so, then that puts carbs really high so is that ok?

Answer: There is not a set ratio for maintenance calories, as each body is different and will require different ratios. Yes, you absolutely can reduce your protein. As you get closer to your goal weight it is natural for protein to be closer to the .8-1/lb range. Once you have your protein set then go ahead and play around with your carbs and fat. Follow the feedback from your body to see what is going to work best for you :)

Macro Adjusting

Uncategorized Apr 17, 2020

Question: In a 7 day period of tracking, what would the consequences be of going under on calories or macros for 2-3 days? And should macros be adjusted when activity levels go down during the week (for example, they go down 200+ calories a day for 3-4 days that week)?

Answer: If you are not consistently hitting your macros within margin (within 100 calories, +/-5g carbs and protein, +/-2g fat) you will not get accurate feedback from your body to determine if your current macros are working or if there needs to be adjustments.

When setting your macros you account for your workouts that you consistently do. If your workout routine changes one week you most likely won't see much affect. However, if you are consistently missing workouts then it is best to really focus on the bio feedback from your body. Your body will tell you if your macros need to be adjusted.

setting macros for increasing metabolism

Uncategorized Apr 16, 2020

Question: The grams you generally set are for cutting? Not reverse dieting? I have not been eating enough so I have been trying to up my metabolism by eating more. I am currently eating (trying to) about 1900 while maintaining. I realized I used to eat between 1000-1200! Which is not enough. I lift 5 days per week so I know I have sabotaged my metabolism. I am not ready to cut yet as I have only been in reverse for about 3 weeks and only this week am I actually getting close to 1900. I have been focusing mostly on getting close to my protein.

Answer: Inside the modules there is a workbook with step by step instructions on how to set your macros. To set your macros for a reverse diet, you would use the calories you are currently consuming (in this case 1900) and set your protein, fat and carbs with those calories. Be sure to watch the modules on reverse dieting (found in module 4) so you understand the process on how to increase your calories. Also, take starting weight, measurements...
